Who We Are

Our Mission

Our History

On March 5th, 1947, a group of local interested sportsmen met with the intention of forming a club interested in the conservation and propagation of fish and game in the vicinity of Topton.  Officers were nominated and elected as follows:

President: Willard Hilbert
Vice-President: Edwin Rauenzahn, Jr.
Financial Secretary: Martin Lantz
Recording Secretary: Harold Fenstermacher
Treasurer: Victor Boyer
Trustees: Harvey Trunk • Howard Landis • Andrew Fegely

In June 1947 they made membership application to the Federated Sportsmen Clubs of Berks County and were accepted.  On May 24th, 1948, they were granted a Non-profit Corporation Charter from the State.  Since then, they have become members of the State Federation of Sportsmen Clubs, NRA, National Shooting Sports Foundation, and other affiliations related to their activities.

The Club currently owns over 50 acres of land with trap, archery, rifle and handgun ranges.  They have worked with local land owners to improve and stock streams, stock pheasants and turkeys.  The clubhouse located at 26 Tina Lane in Longswamp Township (1/4 mile east of Topton) has an ample kitchen for cooking breakfast and lunches on weekends and has an indoor archery range in the basement.

Club committees for archery, trap, handgun, rifle and muzzleloading (Cowboy, Steel, IPSC, 3-gun) hold various monthly and other activities to help with maintaining the club facilities.  Committees hold annual events for fishing, Easter egg hunt and Santa for the kids.  Membership is open to the public starting at age 5 thru 17 for Juniors and 18 and older for adults.  Training for the sports is also available.
